How It All Began

The story of two girls, one closet, and a golden dream.

Every dream has a beginning, and ours started in a tiny dorm room at the University of North Georgia in the heart of Dahlonega, Georgia, the city of the original Gold Rush. We were just two freshmen, thrown together as suite-mates, but quickly became trusted friends. We shared laughs, stories, late-night snacks…and eventually, an entire wardrobe.

From the start, we bonded over our love for fashion, and not just any fashion, but the kind of pieces that made us feel confidently ourselves as we walked into every room. We were the girls who showed up overdressed to casual dinners, the ones who couldn't resist a bold sleeve, a romantic hemline, or a color no one else dared to wear. We hunted for special pieces that felt both elegant and fun- clothes that made us feel like the best version of ourselves.

We shared everything, especially our closet. We'd go half in on dresses and tops that we both loved, building a wardrobe that blended our identical styles. It wasn’t long before we realized that this partnership went far beyond fashion. It was a friendship built on trust, laughter, and the kind of sisterhood you only find once in a lifetime.

The seed of Goldmar was planted during a quiet evening in winter of 2024. We sat down together and began talking about the idea of launching a clothing brand- something that had always felt like a dream. There was excitement, of course, but also hesitation. It was a big step. We took time to reflect, to pray, and to truly consider what this could become. The more we talked, the more certain we became: this was what we were meant to do. Goldmar wasn’t just a good idea; it felt like our purpose.

The name Goldmar carries our story in every letter. “Gold” for the place we met— Dahlonega, a town known for its gold mining history and charm. And “Mar” for the first three letters of both of our names, Martha and Mary Kellen- the two hearts behind this vision. Together, Goldmar represents something rare and radiant, just like the friendship that started it all.

Built on Christian values, our clothing brand is more than a place to shop. It’s a reflection of who we are. We’re not here to sell what everyone else is selling. We believe in offering handpicked, standout pieces that feel thoughtfully curated, just like the ones we used to share back in college. We want everyone who wears Goldmar to feel seen, celebrated, and one-of-a-kind.

What started as borrowed dresses in a college dorm has blossomed into a business full of heart. We’re still just two girls doing what we love: having fun, dreaming big, and creating something beautiful side by side. Goldmar is our way of sharing that joy with you.
